The Polyax Aluminium Nipples from Sapim – like a ball joint
The Polyax aluminium nipples from Sapim – sold here in a 5-pack – have a round head that works like a ball joint, which gives it a better spoke-nipple line. Aluminium is the material of choice for higher performance, as it provides a combination of low weight, strength and corrosion resistance. Sapim has chosen the highest grade of aluminium for these nipples: 7075-T6. The anodised surfacing opens up a variety of colour options. In addition, the Polyax nipples are given a special coating on the thread and on the surface, which significantly reduces friction both between spoke and nipple and between rim and nipple. The coating offers further advantages such as a simplified, clean wheel design and quiet, more effective alignment.
